Ibadan, Oyo State — The name Tani Olohun has continued to trend across social media following a dramatic attempted arrest of the prominent Isese advocate at his residence in Ibadan on Tuesday, August 25, 2026.

Abdulazeez Adegbola, popularly known as Tani Olohun, was reportedly confronted by police officers in the early hours of Tuesday, sparking tension in his neighbourhood as residents gathered to resist what they initially described as an alleged attempt to abduct him and take him from Ibadan to Ilorin.

Videos circulating online showed a tense confrontation between Tani Olohun, the officers and residents. In some footage, the traditional religion advocate was seen on the ground during an apparent struggle with the officers, while residents questioned the identity and purpose of the men. Reports also alleged that the vehicle used by the officers had no visible number plate.

The situation reportedly escalated as residents blocked access to the area and called for intervention. Yoruba activist Sunday Igboho was subsequently contacted and arrived at the scene. He was seen speaking to a senior police official by telephone as efforts were made to de-escalate the confrontation.

The command said the warrant was reportedly issued after Tani Olohun allegedly failed to comply with conditions attached to an earlier bail granted to him, prompting the court to order his arrest.
