Super Eagles striker, Akor Adams, has explained why he finds it easy to adapt to Sevilla’s football style, even though he has played under three different managers this season in La Liga.
Sevilla has faced considerable instability in their coaching staff, having appointed two permanent managers so far: Matías Almeyda in June 2025 at the start of the season and Luis García Plaza on March 24, 2026, after Almeyda’s dismissal. Additionally, during the late 2024/25 season, Joaquín Caparrós was brought in as an interim coach.
In an interactive session organised by LALIGA on Tuesday, Adams spoke about how he has managed to adapt under at least three different managers.
“I think, yeah, this is my third or my fourth manager since I joined. And I’ve worked closely with three of them, I believe.
‘Their coaching philosophies aren’t very different because Sevilla’s style emphasises strong defence and aggressive attacking. They focus on small details. As professionals, we don’t have much time to learn.
“You need to quickly understand and adapt to what the coach expects. It has been quite straightforward.”
He added, “They are very clear and direct with their instructions and how they want us to play. I do my best to listen and focus on their requirements.”
Akor Adams has been a key player for Sevilla in the 2025/26 season, netting 8 La Liga goals and providing 3 assists in 26 appearances, establishing himself as an important attacker by scoring vital goals.
His scoring prowess has not gone unnoticed, as the Nigerian striker has been nominated for the 2025/26 SPORTY LALIGA MVP award, which recognises the best African player in Spain’s top flight.
