The Nationwide League One (NLO), Africa’s largest youth domestic football league, has announced some significant updates as it gears up for the 2026 season.

During the Annual General Meeting (AGM) held in Abuja on Friday, the league revealed a tentative kickoff date, introduced a new logo, and made important amendments to its rules and regulations.

In his address, the NLO bigwig showered encomiums in the leadership of Nigeria’s apex football body.

“We want to acknowledge and express our heartfelt gratitude to the President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Alhaji Ibrahim Gusau, for his steadfast support and unwavering commitment to advancing football in our nation. His leadership has been pivotal in elevating our league to unprecedented levels.

“Under Gusau’s guidance, we are continually motivated to pursue our shared mission of propelling Nigerian football onto both local and international stage.”

Honourable Silas Agara, Chairman of the NLO’s Executive Board, shared with club delegates the body’s achievements and the new season Friday, April 10, 2026 kick off date.

“The past year has seen remarkable success driven by the collaborative efforts of the League Board and the Secretariat. Together, we have relentlessly worked to improve the quality and competitiveness of our league.

“Our hard work is receiving well-deserved recognition. The enthusiasm we’re witnessing from fans, sponsors, and stakeholders is a clear testament to our progress. We have experienced a surge in match attendance, increased media coverage, and, importantly, the rise of talented players making their mark on the national and international arena.

Additionally, the Director-General of the National Directorate of Employment, proudly announced NLO’s strategic partnership with Zkyte Technology, as he unveiled the rebranded NLO logo, highlighting a fresh visual identity for the league.

“This significant collaboration marks a crucial step in rebranding our league in accordance with global best practices. The partnership underscores our commitment to innovation and excellence. Our journey with Zkyte will undoubtedly enhance league administration and set new standards for success.”

Honourable Silas emphasized: “The logo rebrand signifies the NLO’s commitment to providing more than just a platform for grassroots football development; it aims to scout emerging talents and establish viable career pathways for players across over 300 clubs and academies in Division One and the U19 Youth League.

“This transformation is reflected in the improved graphics and word mark of our new visual identity, symbolizing talent, athleticism, and the relentless pursuit of excellence,” he stated.”

On the amendment of its rules and regulations ahead the new season, Honourable Silas noted. “These changes mark a new chapter for the NLO, as it continues to enhance its framework and foster the future of football in the region.
