A new video has emerged from captivity showing Mrs. Rachael Alamu Folawe, the abducted principal of Community High School, Esiele, directly refuting viral reports regarding the demands of her captors.
In the footage, which has been circulating widely across social media platforms, the principal explicitly dismissed claims that the extremist group responsible for her abduction had demanded a ₦1 billion ransom, the implementation of Sharia law across Nigeria, or the release of high-profile individuals.
Visibly distressed, Mrs. Alamu described the circulating reports as “false and misleading,” emphasizing that the media narratives do not reflect the ground reality of the victims’ situation in captivity.

The abduction occurred on May 15, 2026, when heavily armed terrorists launched a coordinated assault on three educational institutions in the Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State:

* L.A. Primary School (Esiele)
Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde previously confirmed that the attack resulted in the tragic death of at least one school staff member and the mass abduction of about 32 students and seven teachers. Intelligence reports from the Defence Headquarters have linked the sophisticated operation to splinter factions of the Jama’atu Ansarul Muslimeena Fii Bilaadis Sudan (better known as Ansaru) and the JAS (Boko Haram) network.
The viral reports denied by the principal had alleged that the terrorists issued a list of heavy political and financial demands, including the release of detained commanders Mahmud Usman (Abu Bara’a) and Abubakar Abba, alongside the ₦1 billion ransom.
Security analysts suggest that the denial video may have been recorded under duress, a common tactic used by insurgent groups to control public narratives and manipulate negotiations. In previous videos leaked from the camp, the principal was seen pleading with President Bola Tinubu and Governor Makinde to stop kinetic military rescue attempts, warning that the force used by security operatives was endangering the lives of the hostages.
The Oyo State Police Command, through its Public Relations Officer, DSP Olayinka Ayanlade, has stated that all video materials originating from the kidnappers’ den are being subjected to rigorous forensic analysis to determine the exact location of the captives.
“The spread of fake news, unverified ransom demands, and false reports of victim releases only serves to create public panic and compromise ongoing tactical operations,” the Command warned in a recent brief.
Joint security forces, including the Nigeria Police Force, military personnel, and Nigerian Air Force surveillance assets, have successfully cordoned off a critical perimeter within the Old Oyo National Park. Security officials maintain that while pressure is being heavily applied to prevent the terrorists from escaping into neighboring Kwara State, the primary objective remains the safe and unharmed extraction of the schoolchildren and their educators.
