Budget Prioritises Agriculture, Education, Infrastructure, Health, and Youth Empowerment

The Executive Chairman of Egbedore Local Government, Honourable Sanya Okunade, on Wednesday formally presented the 2026 Proposed Budget of the Council to the Osun State House of Assembly for legislative consideration and approval.
The proposed budget, christened as a people-oriented and development-driven fiscal plan, has a total size of ₦7,533,354,172.00
(Seven Billion, Five Hundred and Thirty-Three Million, Three Hundred and Fifty-Four Thousand, One Hundred and Seventy-Two Naira only).

Presenting the budget, Hon. Okunade stated that the 2026 fiscal proposal is strategically designed to improve the standard of living of the people of Egbedore Local Government through targeted programmes, inclusive governance, and sustainable development initiatives.

The Chairman highlighted eight major objectives guiding the 2026 budget, which include:
1. Improvement of food production through the provision of necessary agricultural inputs and support to farmers.
2. Strengthening Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) to reduce over-dependence on federal allocation and enhance financial sustainability.
3. Provision of quality road infrastructure and clean water supply to improve connectivity and public health across communities.
4. Human capital development, job creation, and empowerment programmes targeting youths, women, and the middle-aged population.
5. Purchase and installation of electricity transformers across various communities to ensure regular and adequate power supply.
6. Improvement of primary healthcare delivery, including renovation and equipping of Primary Health Care Centres and periodic supply of essential drugs.
7. Promotion of education, recognised as the bedrock of development, through access to education for all and provision of teaching and learning materials in primary and middle schools.
The budget places highest priority on Agriculture, Education, and the continuous rehabilitation and construction of feeder roads, reflecting the administration’s commitment to grassroots development.

The Osun State House of Assembly, under the leadership of the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Adewale Egbedun, received the budget proposal and assured that it would be given due legislative consideration as part of the process leading to its approval for the 2026 fiscal year.
