A new football outfit, Gold Football Club, was officially unveiled on Saturday, 19 December 2025, at the Federal Polytechnic Sports Pavilion, Ede, Osun State, marking a significant addition to grassroots football development in the state.

The unveiling ceremony attracted notable football stakeholders from the Federal Polytechnic, Ede, led by Mr. Shuaib Agboola, a retired Chief Coach of the Federal Polytechnic, Ede, who delivered words of encouragement to everyone present and the team’s management, and urged them to remain focused and committed to excellence. In a show of support, he donated two sets of training bibs and a captain’s armband to the club, describing Gold FC as a promising initiative capable of contributing meaningfully to football development in the state.

Also present were Mr. Owoeye Dare, the current Chief Coach, and Mr. Okedare David, popularly known as “Saviola,” also a coach at the Polytechnic. In a key highlight of the event, Mr. Owoeye Dare was officially appointed as the Consultant of Gold Football Club, a move widely applauded by attendees as a step towards ensuring technical stability and professional growth for the club.

The event also had the presence of several dignitaries and supporters who graced the occasion, including Mrs. Owoeye Ruth, Mrs. Ayankunle, Daniel Eunice, Adefisoye H.O, Akinbode Saheed, Iyedupe Kolawole, McShessey Ogunseemi, Osinubi O.B, Lawal Sodiq, Oladosu Mubarak, Agbaje Gabriel, Ojolowo Nurudeen, Ishola Olajide, Apata O.C, Olawuyi Gbenga, Suru W. Peter, and Adeleke J.S.

Speaking at the ceremony, speakers commended the establishment of Gold FC, describing it as a timely initiative that will provide opportunities for young talents in Ede and its environs to develop their football careers under structured and professional guidance. They emphasized the importance of discipline, education, and character building alongside football development.

Gold Football Club, under its newly unveiled structure, is positioned as a community-driven club with a strong focus on youth development, professionalism, and positive representation of Ede – particularly, the Federal Polytechnic of Ede, on the football scene.

Speaking after the ceremony, the club’s Executive President, Mr. Ayankunle Segun, popularly known as “Tee Gold,” described the establishment of Gold FC as the fulfilment of a long-standing vision. He emphasized the club’s commitment to talent discovery, structured development, and professionalism, noting that modern football requires both sporting excellence and sound management.

The club’s leadership also expressed gratitude to all guests and stakeholders and the football community in Ede and Osun State at large for their support, pledging commitment to building a sustainable football institution that will nurture talents and contribute meaningfully to sports development in Osun State.
