4th Edition of the Ajara Humanitarian Foundation U-17 Secondary Schools and Grassroots Football Teams Tournament, as four teams — Al-Nur Islamic College, Ilobu; Oloore FC, Ifon; Salvation Army Grammar School, Osogbo; and Emirates FC, Osogbo
The excitement reached new heights over the weekend in the 4th Edition of the Ajara Humanitarian Foundation U-17 Secondary Schools and Grassroots Football Teams Tournament, as four teams — Al-Nur Islamic College, Ilobu; Oloore FC, Ifon; Salvation Army Grammar School, Osogbo; and Emirates FC, Osogbo — secured their places in the semi-final stage after an electrifying round of quarter-final encounters.
Organized by the Ajara Humanitarian Foundation in partnership with Ilaji Football Academy, Ibadan, the championship continues to promote youth development, sportsmanship, and grassroots football excellence across Osun State and beyond.
The first quarter-final clash saw Al-Nur Islamic College, Ilobu, edge past C.A.C Grammar School, Araromi, in a tightly contested 2–1 victory. After taking an early lead through Oladapo Fawaz, Al-Nur displayed remarkable resilience to reclaim their advantage in the second half despite C.A.C’s equalizer shortly after the break. Oladapo Fawaz was deservedly named Man of the Match for his outstanding all-round performance.
In the second encounter, Oloore FC, Ifon, produced an impressive comeback to defeat Surprise FC, Osogbo, 3–2. Surprise FC led 2–0 at halftime, but a spirited Oloore side turned the game on its head with three unanswered goals in the second half — the decisive strike coming from the penalty spot. Gafaru Idris of Oloore FC earned the Man of the Match award for his exceptional contribution.
On Sunday, Salvation Army Grammar School, Osogbo, overcame Rex-Versity Comprehensive College, Osogbo, in another thrilling quarter-final encounter that ended 1–1 in regulation time. The tie was decided via a penalty shootout, with Salvation Army triumphing 4–2 to seal their spot in the semi-finals.
The final quarter-final match featured TSO FC, Osogbo, against Emirates FC, Osogbo. Despite being reduced to ten men, Emirates FC held their ground and secured a hard-fought 1–0 victory courtesy of a late strike from Jamil Kamil, completing the semi-final lineup.
The semi-final stage of the championship is scheduled to continue over the coming weekend, promising another round of thrilling football action as the remaining teams battle for a place in the grand finale.
