The Osun State Sports Council has confirmed that Team Osun is leaving no stone unturned in preparation for the forthcoming South-West Zonal Elimination Playoffs for team sports, set to hold from August 16th to 19th, 2025 in Ibadan, Oyo State.

The playoffs, which will take place at Adamasigba Stadium and Liberty Stadium in Ibadan, will serve as qualifiers for the 9th National Youth Games, tagged “We Are the Future”, scheduled to be hosted in Asaba, Delta State from August 26th – September 6th, 2025.

In readiness for the challenge, Team Osun’s Football, Handball, Baseball, Volleyball, Basketball, Beach Volleyball, Hockey, and Cricket squads have intensified training sessions, showing strong determination to secure qualification.

Speaking in Osogbo on Monday, the General Manager of the Osun State Sports Council, Mr. Ademola Daini, expressed confidence in the state’s athletes. He emphasized that the zonal playoffs will be conducted simultaneously across all six geo-political zones of the country and will feature the eight officially recognized ball games.

“Our teams are focused, disciplined, and eager to make Osun proud at the zonal playoffs and beyond. We believe their dedication in training will translate into outstanding performances in Ibadan and ultimately in Asaba,” Mr. Daini said.

The Osun State Sports Council calls on all sports lovers in the state to rally behind Team Osun as they compete for a spot on the national stage.
