Ikorodu City FC Chairman, Sanmi Doherty, has paid glowing tribute to Ikorodu City FA Head Coach, Washington Egor, following another remarkable campaign that saw the club secure promotion to the Nigeria National League (NNL) for the second consecutive year without suffering a single defeat.

The latest promotion further cements Coach Egor’s growing reputation as one of the brightest tacticians in Nigerian grassroots football after masterminding another unbeaten Nationwide League One (NLO) campaign and leading Ikorodu City FA back to the country’s second-tier league in commanding fashion.

In what has become one of the most impressive records in recent NLO history, Coach Egor completed 24 consecutive NLO matches across the 2025 and 2026 seasons without defeat, recording an outstanding 19 victories and five draws while maintaining an unbeaten run that spanned two seasons.

During the 2025 NLO campaign, Ikorodu City FA dominated the group stage with victories over Dannaz FC, Gbagada FC, Spartan FC, Ojodu City FC, Crime Fighter FC, Thy Lords Favour FC, Switch FC and Lion Heart FC, while drawing only once against Marvlon FC. The team carried that momentum into the promotion playoffs, defeating Lekki United and Francasexx FC before holding Magic Stars to a draw to clinch promotion to the NNL.

Coach Egor repeated the feat in 2026, guiding the Lagos-based side through another outstanding group-stage campaign. Ikorodu City FA secured convincing victories over BYT FC, Crime Fighter FC, Dosu FC, Zenith Emperor FC, OOIM FC and Toma FC, while earning valuable draws against Athletic FC and Maryland FC.

The club then completed another flawless playoff campaign by defeating Edwin Collins FC, Ablaze FC and Francasexx FC, alongside a draw against FC Hephzibah, sealing another well-deserved ticket to the Nigeria National League without tasting defeat.

Reacting to the historic achievement, Sanmi Doherty praised Coach Egor’s professionalism and commitment to excellence, describing the unbeaten record as a symbol of exceptional coaching, meticulous preparation and strong leadership.

“Coach Washington Egor has once again demonstrated why he is one of the finest young coaches in Nigerian football. To secure promotion to the Nigeria National League in successive seasons without losing a single match is an extraordinary achievement that deserves national recognition,” Doherty said.

“He has built a winning culture, developed talented players and consistently delivered results under pressure. His unbeaten record of 24 NLO matches over two seasons speaks volumes about his tactical intelligence, consistency and dedication to the game.”

The Ikorodu City FC boss added that the club remains committed to supporting the coach’s development and expressed confidence that even greater milestones lie ahead.

“This is only the beginning. We believe Coach Washington Egor has the qualities to achieve even greater success in Nigerian football. We will continue to support his growth because his future is incredibly bright, and I have no doubt that bigger opportunities await him.”

The achievement also highlights Ikorodu City FA’s commitment to youth development and grassroots football, with the club continuing to establish itself as one of the leading talent-producing institutions in Lagos State and Nigeria.
