President of the Nigeria Football Federation and President of WAFU B, Ibrahim Musa Gusau, has applauded President and Commander-In-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for approving Nigeria’s proposal to stage the 48th Ordinary General Assembly of the Confederation of African Football as well as this year’s CAF Awards Ceremony.

The 48th CAF Ordinary General Assembly is scheduled to take place in October this year and will bring together top football administrators and stakeholders from across the African continent.
Gusau, who has continued to reposition Nigerian football through progressive policies, improved football administration and strategic development initiatives since assuming office as NFF President, described the approval as another major boost for Nigeria’s growing influence in African football.
The NFF President also praised CAF President, Patrice Motsepe, for his continued confidence in Nigeria’s football leadership and organizational capacity.
President Tinubu made the announcement at the ongoing Africa Forward Summit in Nairobi following a high-level meeting with Motsepe.
Also in attendance were Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, NFF President Ibrahim Gusau, Special Adviser to the CAF President, Amaju Melvin Pinnick, and CAF Acting General Secretary, Samson Adamu.
Under Gusau’s leadership, Nigerian football has witnessed renewed administrative stability, stronger support for grassroots football, enhanced attention to women’s football development and improved relationships with continental and global football bodies.
The CAF Ordinary General Assembly traditionally gathers presidents of CAF’s 54 Member Associations, representatives of the six zonal unions and key football decision-makers from across Africa.
The CAF Awards Ceremony remains one of African football’s biggest annual events, celebrating outstanding achievements and excellence across the continent in a glamorous atmosphere.
