The Brown 2-Day Scouting Tournament came alive again on Wednesday at the Osogbo Grammar School football pitch, delivering a spectacle of goals and great individual performances as teams battled to impress scouts.
The day 2 of the tournament saw two entertaining matches that produced 12 goals in total and to celebrate outstanding individual performances, Man of the Match awards, sponsored by NIYAZBAM Consultancy and philanthropist and grassroots football lover, Mr. Ibidapo Ibikunle , were presented to two standout players from Wednesday’s fixtures.
The first match of the day was the encounter between ASE Ridyem FC and Kamal FC. The match only bursted into life in the second half after a cagey opening 40 minutes ended goalless.
Kamal FC’s Jamiu Tiamiyu broke the deadlock in the 45th minute with a smart finish following a brilliant team move down the right flank. However, ASE Ridyem responded immediately, with Taiwo Afolabi leveling the score just two minutes later.
ASE Ridyem seized control soon after. Abdullahi Oyetunji restored their lead in the 55th minute with a nice low drive from the edge of the box, before Afolabi struck again three minutes later to make it 3–1.
Kamal FC fought back through their striker, Abu, who unleashed a stunning free-kick from outside the 18-yard area to reduce the deficit. ASE Ridyem, however, kept up the pressure, and Afolabi completed his hat-trick with a simple tap-in after a goalkeeping error. Ahmed Ibrahim pulled one back for Kamal FC in the dying minutes, but it wasn’t enough, as ASE Ridyem held on for a 4–3 victory.
In the second game, Oriade FC delivered a composed and dominant performance to claim a 4–1 win over Alaska FC.
Oriade started brightly, controlling the tempo of the game through their midfield. Their early pressure paid off in the 15th minute when Obisesan Sodiq scored from an almost impossible angle with a spectacular volley from the right flank.
Despite Alaska FC’s attempts to grow into the match, Oriade’s defense stood firm and the first half ended 1–0 in Oriade’s favor.
Oriade doubled their lead in the second half after an Alaska FC defender, Taiye, inadvertently turned the ball into his own net. Obisesan then struck again with a fine finish to make it 3–0.
A defensive error from Oriade gifted Alaska FC a lifeline, which their striker clinically converted, but Oriade responded in the closing moments with a fourth goal to seal a comprehensive 4–1 victory.
The Brown 2-Day Scouting Programme, organized by Brown Football Agency in collaboration with Oriade FC, will end on Thursday morning with one outstanding match left between Ejigbo City Football Club and Oriade FC.
