Kun Khalifat Football Club of Owerri, popularly known as The Pride of Imo State, has made a major statement of intent ahead of the new football season by announcing the appointment of former Super Eagles defender, Ifeanyi Anaemena, as the club’s new Sporting Director.
The club confirmed the appointment on Wednesday through its official media channels, describing Anaemena as “a legendary figure in Nigerian and international football” whose leadership and expertise are expected to take Kun Khalifat FC to new heights.
Anaemena, a rock-solid centre-back during his playing days, boasts an illustrious career that spanned top-flight clubs including Giwa FC, Enyimba, Rivers United, Al Nahda (Saudi Arabia), and most recently Remo Stars FC, where he played a pivotal role in helping them clinch their first-ever Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) title last season. He has three NPFL titles to his name and is regarded as one of the highest-scoring defenders in Nigerian football history.
In his new role, Anaemena is tasked with overseeing the club’s sporting direction, including player development, team strategy, talent recruitment, and fostering a winning culture both on and off the pitch.
“We’re excited about the future with Ifeanyi Anaemena at the helm of our Sporting Directorate,” the club stated. “His deep knowledge of the game, passion for football development, and proven leadership qualities make him the ideal person to lead our sporting vision.”
Anaemena is expected to bring fresh insight to Kun Khalifat FC’s football philosophy, focusing on building team spirit, innovation, and identifying young talent capable of making an impact at both local and international levels.
