Super Eagles goalkeeper Ojo Olorunleke has released a formal statement addressing the recent allegations made by his wife, Tosin Olorunleke, on social media. The statement, issued through his legal representatives, I. Musa & Associates, and posted on his social media accounts, aims to “set the record straight” after what he describes as a long period of silence for the sake of his children.
The controversy began when Mrs. Tosin Olorunleke took to social media, accusing her husband of neglect, infidelity, and even threatening her life and that of their children. She alleged that their marital problems escalated after the Super Eagles’ successful outing at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, where the team’s achievement was rewarded by the federal government. She also claimed her husband had moved in with another woman, Precious Daniel, and was using “charms” to harm her and their children.
In his comprehensive three-part press release, Olorunleke vehemently denied all allegations, labeling them as “grave, false, and malicious.” He stated that the issues in their marriage “began long before now” and that he has consistently sought reconciliation.
My Efforts Towards Peace and Reconciliation
Olorunleke detailed his financial commitment to his family, stating he has consistently provided for his wife and children, including paying for her business, a monthly salary, and a monthly upkeep of N250,000, in addition to covering rent, school fees, and medical bills. He also mentioned that he advised her to temporarily step away from work for her safety and the children’s.
He further claimed that his wife consistently rejected his attempts at reconciliation, including “repeated invitations” to spend time together and participate in Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR). According to the statement, she “insisted instead on court action and social media battles.”
Denial of Access to My Children
A particularly painful point highlighted by the goalkeeper is the alleged “repeated denial of access to my children.” He claimed to have been “blocked completely” from communicating with them, even on his child’s birthday, when a cake he sent through his siblings was “refused.”
False Allegations Against My Person
Olorunleke addressed the most serious accusations, calling the claims of using “charms” or seeking to harm his family “malicious and unfounded.” He expressed his deep emotional distress and the harm these allegations have caused to his reputation and career, exposing him to “ridicule, suspicion, and public hostility.”
Commitment Going Forward
Despite the public conflict, Olorunleke reiterated his unwavering love and duty to his children. He stated, “I will continue to provide for them, protect them, and prioritize their welfare.” He also appealed to the public and the media to allow him to handle the matter “with dignity, and for the sake of the children whose future must not be destroyed by bitterness.”
He concluded with a stern warning, stating that he has already initiated legal proceedings against his wife’s “defamatory publications” and would not be “dragged into social media wars.” He concluded, “I only seek peace, stability, and a safe future for my children.”
