Organizers of one of Nigeria’s most followed annual football preseason tournament, the Gold Cup Pre-Season Tournament, have officially unveiled the schedule and team lineup for its 14th edition.
To be hosted at the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abeokuta, Ogun State, the 10-day tournament runs from Thursday, August 13 to Saturday, August 22, 2026.
This edition introduces a single League Phase format, replacing the traditional group stage system. Inspired by modern international club tournaments, each team plays five matches in a unified league table, with every point impacting overall standings. The top four teams at the conclusion of the league phase will advance directly to the semi-finals.
General Coordinator Tunde Shamsudeen noted that the structural revamp is designed to heighten competitiveness and offer managers high-stakes fixtures to test their squads ahead of the 2026/27 domestic season.
