Team Osun has secured an impressive 8th-place finish in the final standings at the recently concluded Abuja 2026 National Para Games, a highly competitive event that featured participation from all 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The 3rd National Para Games, held at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, showcased exceptional talent and resilience from para-athletes across the country, with Team Osun delivering a remarkable and inspiring performance throughout the competition.
The Osun contingent, distinguished by unity, discipline, and competitive spirit, was led by the General Manager of the Osun State Sports Council, Ademola Daini. He was ably supported by top officials including, Ogunbanwo Aderonke and Adejoke Osho, who were all present to witness and celebrate the team’s commendable achievements.
Competing across multiple sporting disciplines, Team Osun amassed a total of 16 medals — comprising 3 Gold, 6 Silver, and 7 Bronze — a feat that earned the team an 8th-place finish overall among the 37 participating contingents.
This strong performance underscores Team Osun’s growing prominence in para sports and reflects the effectiveness of sustained investment and strategic support from the Osun State Government. The administration of Ademola Adeleke, alongside his deputy Kola Adewusi, who also serves as Commissioner for Sports, continues to play a pivotal role in advancing the state’s sporting development agenda.
In the overall medal standings, Enugu State emerged champions of the games with a dominant haul of 40 Gold, 8 Silver, and 7 Bronze medals. Bayelsa State finished second with 25 Gold, 30 Silver, and 34 Bronze medals, while Edo State secured third place with 25 Gold, 14 Silver, and 12 Bronze medals. Rivers State and Lagos State completed the top five, finishing fourth and fifth respectively.
