NPFL Transfer Market Update: Fatai Abdullahi Oluwadayo Seals Return to Abia Warriors FC

Experienced midfielder, Fatai Abdullahi Oluwadayo has rejoined Umuahia-based side, Abia Warriors FC ahead of the 2025/2026 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season and the CAF Confederation Cup campaign.

Fatai, a strong and intelligent defensive midfielder, returns to familiar territory, having last played for Abia Warriors in the 2019/2020 season before making a move to Enyimba International FC. Since then, he has enjoyed two separate stints with the People’s Elephant, had a spell with Rivers United, and also showcased his talent on the international stage with Etoile de l’Est in the Rwandan Premier League.

With over 145 NPFL appearances, 12+ goals, and 5 assists to his name, Fatai brings with him a wealth of top-flight experience and tactical discipline. He is widely regarded as one of the most consistent and underrated midfielders in the NPFL, admired for his composure, defensive awareness, and leadership on and off the ball.

This homecoming marks a significant boost to Abia Warriors’ squad depth and continental ambitions, as the team prepares for a demanding domestic season and its first-ever CAF Confederation Cup appearance.
